Older Person Mental Health First Aid This 12-hour Older Person Mental Health First Aid course is for any interested adult, particularly those who work with, live with or care for older people, including families and carers. Expand We are partnering with Darling Downs and West Moreton PHN to bring a number of Mental Health First Aid courses specifically designed to support older persons. The courses are free for workers from the age care sector or people caring for older persons. You will learn how to assist people aged 65+ who are developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem or in a mental health crisis, until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves using a practical, evidence-based action plan. This course is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals. Lifeline Accidental Counsellor (Face To Face) Learn how to Recognise, Respond and Refer safely and effectively to someone who is in distress or in crises. Expand This face to face Accidental Counsellor course provides participants with the skills and most importantly the confidence to Recognise, Respond and Refer safely and effectively to someone who is in distress or in crises. The training is being offered free of charge to participants and comprises of two parts; a 90-minute e-learning component and a 3.5-hour face to face workshop. This unaccredited course is designed to equip anyone to support another person and includes important information about self-care and responding appropriately in a range of situations. For community, business and other groups this training can be offered on-site. Sponsored by NRMA and RACV, this national project with Lifeline Australia, aims to provide support to communities that have been impacted by severe weather events, by equipping members of these communities (community connectors) to safely and effectively support someone who may be distressed or experiencing a crisis.
