Lions Club and Bendigo Bank deliver loads of winter items With increased pressures brought on by COVID-19, unemployment and other circumstances, many households and families across south west Queensland are struggling to cope with the cold winter temperatures this year. As the temperature has plummeted and the days have grown shorter, Lifeline Darling Downs has seen a spike in requests for support. Already, Lifeline Darling Downs has received significant support from the public and businesses like LJ Hooker Toowoomba through the Share the Warmth appeal. These funds are already helping give hope and help to many in our region. However, many more people are still struggling to make ends meet and keep themselves warm. True to form, the Lions Club of Toowoomba West has been busy supporting the community through their various activities. Lifeline Darling Downs was pleased to have a surprise visit from the Lions Club last week when they delivered more than 70 brand new blankets and other winter items for those doing it tough. "Community is about doing something together that makes belonging matter." - Brian Solis These donations were made possible by a small grant through Bendigo Bank's community grants program which allowed the team to purchase the brand new items from local suppliers. Lifeline Darling Downs is thrilled to be the recipient of this generosity and are eager to distribute these items to those experiencing homelessness, exiting domestic violence and enduring hardships of kinds. Thank you to the team from Bendigo Bank and the extraordinary people from the Lions Club of Toowoomba West.
