For many years, those living in drought-affected areas have experienced significant impacts in every area of life including business, farming and family life. Those who have been affected have seen the loss of income, enormous changes within their community and felt the emotional effect of this prolonged natural disaster.

Since 2014 Lifeline Darling Downs and South West Queensland Ltd has been running a Drought Appeal which has supported families and farmers with everyday expenses. Our drought appeal is focused on supporting households to afford fuel for their motor vehicle, put food on the table and pay for utilities.

“We're very glad to distribute those funds to the farmers and we are also looking at small businesses who are struggling,” - CEO, Derek Tuffield, OAM

Practical needs are not our only focus, as the mental health of our farmers is an important factor for all of us. We encourage everyone, don't be afraid to talk about what’s happening personally, speak to your doctor, close friend, a counsellor or call Lifeline on 13 1114.

Farmers and families in need of assistance can contact Lifeline Darling Downs by calling 1300 991 443 or email [email protected]

Please consider who you can lend a hand to local families and farmers how need a hand to make it through the ongoing and unrelenting drought.
