Become a Winter Shelter Volunteer:

More than 20,000 Queenslanders and 116,000 Australians are homeless every night. Many persons facing homelessness in Toowoomba have no shelter, no warm food, and no one to turn to during the cold Toowoomba winter.

Winter Shelter Toowoomba is an affiliate of Stable One, a program that has been successfully supporting people experiencing homelessness in Victoria for over six years.

The model pulls together local church communities to provide their facilities to individuals in need, offering beds, free meals, a caring community, and support services.
Winter Shelter Toowoomba is backed by Lifeline Darling Downs and South West Qld Ltd and brings together seven local faith communities as well as numerous support services. It will operate in close collaboration with seven local church groups during the months of June, July, and August, supporting up to ten people per night for ninety-two nights.

“Together we can provide warmth, shelter and food for those who need help. Winter Shelter Toowoomba provides more than just a place to stay. It is about providing hope, dignity and community for those experiencing homelessness”.

This service is more important than ever, with rental vacancy rates at an all-time low, the cost of living rising, and an unprecedented housing crisis. As we enter the cold, harsh Toowoomba winter, people who are homeless or at danger of becoming homeless require this safety net.

You can give warmth and shelter to those in need - donate or organise your own fundraiser to encourage your friends, family, and coworkers to contribute to this initiative.

Winter Shelter provides more than just a place to stay - it’s about providing hope, dignity and community.

Together we can provide warmth and shelter and help change the story for those in need.
