Southern Downs Community Flood & Drought Support Grants

Where do you have to reside or work from to be eligible?

  • Maranoa LGA
  • Murweh LGA
  • Lockyer Valley LGA
  • Toowoomba LGA
  • Southern Downs LGA

Who is eligible for assistance?

  • For a limited time, Lifeline Darling Downs & South West Qld will have grants available of $1,000 - $2,000 for people who live in the eligible shires stated, and who have experienced financial stress due to the past year's drought and flood events.
  • Individuals or families who have been impacted by drought and who require assistance with the cost of living pressures.
  • Non-farming small business operators such as tradesmen and retail operators who rely on regional economies and the agriculture that underpins these economies to earn an income.
  • Other entities such as schools and Parent & Citizen Associations.
  • Each individual, family or business/entity may reapply for this funding noting that preference will be given to first time applicants.

What types of things that can be funded?

  • Outstanding bills
  • School uniforms
  • Stationery/text books
  • Replacement tuckshop equipment
  • School breakfast programs

How much am I able to apply for?

Applicants can apply once, in one category for the following amount:

  • $1,000 per individual
  • $2,000 per family
  • $2,000 per small business or entity

How long do I have to claim?

There will be a round held in each quarter of the 2022 - 2023 calendar year. Your application will be eligible for consideration during each month for the quarter you have submitted your application. You will be advised within 14 working days of the end of the month if you were successful and within 14 working days of the end of the quarter if you were unsuccessful. This means that you may not hear back about your application for 3 months.

When and how will payments be made?

The money will be deposited directly into your nominated account within 14 working days of the end of the month.
