Lifeline Darling Downs and South West Queensland Limited was originally founded on the 20th July 1975. It was known as Lifeline Toowoomba and during the mid 1980's changed it's name to Lifeline Darling Downs and South West Queensland. The company was registered in September 1996.

Lifeline Darling Downs and South West Queensland Limited holds accreditation from Lifeline Australia Incorporated and through that body is affiliated with Lifeline International and is a division of Lifeline Community Care in Queensland and works with UnitingCare Queensland.

Lifeline seeks and acknowledges the support of its dedicated volunteers and the wider general community in enabling it to maintain it's valuable services in Toowoomba, on the Darling Downs and South West Queensland.

Lifeline is an essential service which provides a comprehensive range of services including the national 24 hour telephone counselling service 13 11 14. Throughout Australia there are 42 Lifeline Centres, half of which are in rural, regional or isolated communities. The model of being embedded in local communities dates back to the opening of the first Lifeline Centre in Australia at Parramatta, Sydney in 1963.
