Project ICE True Grit
Communities Against ICE
Supporting our Rural Families and Communities

Project ICEIt has been described as the most addictive, destructive and harmful drug we have seen and now it is tearing our rural families and communities apart.

ICE, or Crystal Methamphetamine is the biggest drug crisis in Australia currently.

ICE may be a national problem but the ICE epidemic is hitting country Australia the hardest.

The Federal Government has released its Final Report of the National Ice Taskforce. Proportionally, ICE use in regional and remote Australia far exceeds that in our major cities and metropolitan areas.

It is reported that 7% of Australians aged 14 years and over have used ICE at least once in their lives. Even more alarming is the 12-17 year old age group with almost 3% having tried ICE. Australian Drug Foundation

The ICE epidemic is having a devastating impact on rural towns in our region. In particular, areas like St George, Roma, Surat and Cunnamulla which have been identified as high-priority communities.

ICEOur Response

This is a community problem that needs a community solution. We are talking about everyday Australians, parents and partners struggling to try and save their children and loved ones from this awful drug. They are in desperate need of our help.

Lifeline Darling Downs is committed to addressing the need for support services in these high-priority areas through Project ICE True Grit.
